Book Review: The Fates Divide

“There's poetry in it, in that poetry can be raw, and cruel, and strange, like this...”

The Fates Divide by Veronica Roth

3.5 out of 4 stars

Going against popular opinion, I enjoyed this series. The world building was interesting to me - a solar system of very different planets, all with “human” life, in various stages of development (think middle ages to sci-fi futuristic.) Though I would loved to have to seen more of the other planets this book definitely goes deeper into them than the first. Really enjoyed the Ogra aspects, probably my favorite part.

Visible energy, super human powers, oracles, and change ups I didn’t see coming all were captivating. I can’t say I was that attached to the love story aspect but I was invested in the two (well, really three) main characters.

It seemed like Roth was experimenting with writing style - a lot of first person/third person, past/present tense switch ups - which was a little distracting but overall kept my interest.
